Forum posts for Test Album

Posted by Nerhael on Mar 09, 2004
What do people think of this format? Looks good? Prefer new window?

Basically, the way this will work is you'll need an FTP account. You'll log into that, create a new album directory, and put all your images in that.

You'll then goto the website, and goto the "Albums" tab, which will list all directories under your account. You then have to 'activate' an album, which basically creates a record for it in the database, and all it's images.

Each image is then renamed, and a thumbnail is created for it.

Once that is done, you can post the album, which creates a user viewable 'article' post linking to that album.

This sounds pretty much too complex for me. I will leave it to the experts.

Also, what you call test crap, I call my new desktop backgrounds.

That's what they are actually. I'm pretty sure I got those from the XP background images. Just used them as test images.

what is the ftp address? [your FTP link goes nowhere] ..

Posted by Nerhael on Mar 09, 2004
It will be yes, but you'll need an account created. If you want one setup, email/msg me and I'll give you login etc needed to do it.

Instead of you emailing people a walkthrough for the albums section, why not put a link to the walkthrough on the albums page?

And let people know how to turn on albums?

I can try to find time to revisit the whole album deal to be a little easier to use. I think the main thing I did wrong as make it easier to upload lots, vs just having you upload images one by one. Which wouldn't require all this ftp crap etc.

I posted that before I realized how busy you were with work.
I wouldn't worry about it, your first priority should be changing the front page so that it loads the Jim Lahey video.
