Could you add a rough page count to books? I'd be interested in reading the first one I think, provided it's not a 400 page monstrousity type affair.

Does the Diamond book deal more with the mining industry side of things? Or does it also go into the history of how the diamond became the North American way to propose to people, and the whole 20 year marketing campaign that led to it?

I remember hearing about this whole idea, but was in brief, and would like to read something more thorough about how they went about it.

The diamond article briefly gets into the marketing, but not a ton. You probably want this article:

If I remember, i'll post page counts. The first book wasn't too big. (Although I wouldn't call a 400 page book a 'monstrosity')

400 pages of fiction, I won't blink.

400 pages of non fiction, on one topic.... well, they're gonna have to work harder for me to stay interested I think.
