Forum posts for Places to stay in New York

When are you going?

The pope is going there in the near future... if it is that weekend you might have seriously difficult time finding anything at all..

You want to stay IN manhattan I assume? If not I would recommend any of the following .. they are in New Jersey but you can get to Times Square in about 10 - 15 minutes by driving or by taking NJ transit (about $3.00)..

Check just about anything else in Secaucus ..

There are also some nice hostels in Manhattan that have private rooms.. but you're almost 30 and have a job... better to stay in a hotel.. :)

We're looking at hostels in NYC with private rooms. The hotels are too expensive.

Then just go to http://www.hostels.com/en/us.ny.ny.html
They have great listings and the user reviews tell you a lot about the hostel.

I would recommend Jazz on the Park... http://www.hostels.com/en/maps/Jazz-on-the-Park-Hostel/2294/
I know a few people who stayed there and the Upper-West-Side can't really be beat in terms of nice posh safe neighbourhoods... shit you might see celebs getting your morning coffee... you can throw a rock to the exact place where John Lennon was shot.. .etc etc...

Are you driving down? Or train or what? If the hostels aren't looking great then seriously stay in Secaucus it's close and about half the price of places in Manhattan
