Forum posts for Why the Transformers movie is going to suck

Posted by crux on Jun 28, 2007
Anyone who's watched any television with me recently knows my opinion on why the Transformers movie is going to suck:

Too many humans.

Seriously, all I want to see is giant robots kicking the hell out of each other on Earth without the rest of the planet really knowing what's going on. Toss in two spunky kids who basically just get in the way for the entire movie and then offer some seemingly minor yet ultimately essential insight at the end of the film, and now you've got a Transformers movie.

Also, please remove the Red & Blue flame decals from Optimus Prime.

Thanks.

In that vein, let me add a comment I made back to the person I quoted:

"Unless all the humans in ther preview die in the first 10 minutes of the movie, it's going to suck."

Ok. I would accept that as a legitimate alternative to my proposal.

I don't understand the people who are pumped for this film. Everytime I see a new preview I cringe. I especially cringe when I read how Michael Bay never knew about Transformers until just before making the film. COME ON!

Although, if he brings in the Dinobots, I shall kneel before him and kiss his feet.

if a fastball special didn't save xmen 3, then dinobots will not save the transformers movie.

Although I agree with you in spirit.

I will admit to being hyped about this movie.. Which will inevitably serve me an injustice as it won't live up to it. But I WANT it to so badly, I can't help it.

Growing up, other than lego, I think transformers were the only toy I really got into, and truly treasured. I didn't do he-man shit, or GI Joe, or any of that other stuff. It was all about the transformers.

So I want this to be good. I suppose if you go in assuming it'll suck, you can at least enjoy what parts end up being okay though.

While I am looking forward to seeing the movie, I am going to walk into it with an open mind realizing that this is just part of the Transformers Universe. Let's face it, there is no way that it will ever live up to the greatness that was the 1980's Transformers, hell just look at the modeling for the most important character in the movie (Starscream) they failed right there. They have a ghettoblaster that isn't shockwave? I have a feeling it's going to be more akin to the more recent transformer cartoons as far as human involvement in the war between good and evil. I know that I for one didn't enjoy the more recent cartoon series but that was more because of far fetched story lines and a piss poor animation team.

Hyping it up as an alien invasion movie was probably not the way to go with it, a war spilling over onto earth while in search of energon, now that would have been the shit.

In conclusion, Grimlock smash DECEPTICONS!

Uhh...

So after much trepidation, I went to see Transformers on Friday night.

Transformers has burned the lies off of my very soul.

I was in awe for the entire movie that I think a single tear came down my face after the onslaught was finished.

HOLY SHIT. SOOOOO GOOOD.
